The First Video Game Ever.

Let’s go back to the Dawn of video games…

Video games are a thriving industry, with hundreds of titles produced and sold every year worldwide. There are many different consolles and some of them are even very expensive. The history of video games is vast and interesting, but here we’ll focus only on the first video game ever.

The inventor of the first video game is actually not that famous and some people aren’t even aware of his role in the creation of today’s video games. We’re talking about William Higinbotham, a clever scientist.

Higinbotham was working in what was basically a nuclear plant, the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Long Island, New York . He designed the timing device used to detonate the first nuclear bomb and was working with his colleagues on other projects as well.

The public was very concerned about the tests being ran in the laboratory and the scientists had to set up a “Visitors’ Day” to ensure that their work wasn’t dangerous. However, the show was terribly boring and scientists had to come up with some entertaining ideas.

Higinbotham used an oscilloscope, a cathode ray tube and an old analog computer that he hooked up to the oscilloscope. The result was a little ball of light that would randomly bounce on the screen from side to side. He worked on this litle project for a week or two and achieved the final product: the little ball could be controlled by two different stations like a tennis court: two players would press a button to “serve” the ball over a little net, like a tennis match.

The game was so succesfull that the next year Higinbotham improved it with different gravity options for the ball. The idea was later developed and new projects came to existence, leading to nowadays video games. However, the scientist never received credit from his invention and never earned a single penny from the video game industry, since he never patented his idea.

Do you know the Milk Processing?

Throughout the world, there are billions of consumers of milk and milk products.

Gnerally, milk undergoes a deep process before becoming available in the supermarkets.
The three primary steps of this process are: pasteurization, homogenization and fortification.

Pasteurization allows to destroy harmful microorganisms of milk. Normal pasteurization keeps milk safer while maintaining its valuable nutrients. Ultra-high temperature (UHT) milk is pasteurized at a much higher temperature to make it sterile. Then, it is put into different containers that keep it safe without requiring refrigeration.

Afterwards, milk suffers the homogenization.
This step prevent the separation of the fat milk from the fluid milk.
Thanks to this separation, it is possible to create a smooth and a uniform texture.

Them, milk undergoes the fortification.
This step is very useful to increase its nutritional value or to replace nutrients lost during processing, such as Vitamin D and Vitamin A.
Vitamin D is added to most milk that is produced in the USA.
In this way, the absorption of calcium has been made.
While, Vitamin A is frequently added to reduced-fat, low-fat and fat-free milks.

Nowadays, thanks to the new researches you can buy various types of milk, according your tastes and your needs.
